Being the best!
Gold standard.
June saw me teaching the navigation techniques and camp craft skills required to achieve the high standard expected by the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. This time it was Gold and the bar was high.
Training took place in locharber area and a walk round the mamors was used to teach navigation a test fitness.
How to extract your friend from a bog, how to adjust timings for poor weather and how to defend yourself against the dreaded midge were all part of the learning process.
Fortunately the expedition assessment which was held in the cairngorms the weather was better even if the mighty midge did still feature.
A few long days and tears shed but all passed and should be proud to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh gold Award.
